You might be selling some unique products that might have a handful of retailers. Your product is also good but still, you might be finding it difficult to get Amazon product reviews? You might be wondering why people don’t bother to post product reviews on Amazon even if they are satisfied with the product?
To gain the confidence of a new customer your product should carry some positive reviews. Some sellers feel that why they should beg in front of a customer for product reviews. It’s right, you don’t need to beg instead follow these few steps below to get unbiased and quality reviews from your customers.
How Customer Product Reviews contribute to more sales on Amazon?
Amazon products reviews are not fake. Customers are aware of the fact that these reviews are extremely genuine and are written by real buyers. This influences the buying decision of a customer. As per the study, 75% of online buyers first evaluate the product through reviews before taking the decision to buy. In Amazon marketplace, product reviews and rating are visible on the product page and so this is extremely true in the case of Amazon. Amazon greatly helps its users to compare the different products and helps them in their buying decision.
Customers like to know about the product from buyer’s who have a first-hand experience of the product. So, let’s try to increase the number of reviews to make your product one of the best-selling products on Amazon marketplace.
Give the Best to Get the Best
How can you expect a person to tell something good about you if you were never good to him? The same applies while selling a product. If you are a startup company and want to achieve customer confidence then you should sell good quality products. Then everything else will fall into place.
Ask Yourself before selling the product, if you were a buyer:
- Would you recommend the purchased product to your friends and family?
- Would you actually buy it?
- Being a buyer will it serve your purpose?
If your answer is no then how can you expect your customer to leave five-star reviews on your product pages. That is why rightly said
“Put Yourself in your Customer’s Shoes”
“WHY” - Motivates people to act on something
If you are finding that your request for customer product reviews is not getting fulfilled, then it might be the reason you have not clarified the customer why he/she should post reviews. And more importantly, you might not have given the customer the reason to post product reviews on Amazon that applies to them.
Imagine some seller sends you an Email stating:
“Hey Hi, please give 5-10 minutes of your time to write the review of the product purchased by you, so that I can sell more”
Doesn’t this statement look a little weird and selfish? Even if you are a generous person, you will have a thought, why should I help this person?
Now Imagine a seller sending you an Email stating:
“You liked our product? then it would be greatly appreciated if you leave a review so that others can also benefit the same. Your review will help us to improve our product more. Let us know what isn’t working for you so that we can serve you as well as other customers even better.”
The above statement reflects that the seller is respecting the buyer’s personal opinion. If you are urging to leave five-star reviews then it reflects that you don’t even bother if the buyer liked your product or not. You are only worried about the review so that you can sell more, this definitely turns off the buyer.
Try to get honest feedback it will help you to improve your product and services. This, in turn, would make you a successful Amazon seller.
How to get more Amazon Product Reviews?
Amazon doesn’t encourage reviews from family and friends
Getting reviews from family and friends is strictly restricted by Amazon. Let’s have a look on Amazon’s Product Review Creation Guidelines,
“In order to preserve the integrity of Community content, content and activities consisting of promotion, advertising, or solicitation (Whether direct or indirect) are not allowed including:
Modifying, creating, or posting contents regarding your product or services from your relatives, business associates, close friends, or employer’s.”
Amazon wants that the seller should receive genuine reviews from the buyers. Simply asking your relatives or friends for the review’s defeats Amazon’s actual purpose. That is why Amazon doesn’t follow these old school ways of getting testimonials.
Ask your customer to share their product experiences
The best way to get reviews is to send your customer an after-sales Email. The email should be sent after a reasonable time period once the customer has received the order. You can request the customer to rate the product about a week or two after the product purchase. For the Amazon product reviews, you can write three follow-up emails like below:

Obviously, you can do more changes on the above emails by requesting more politely. Just asking for reviews may turn off the customer. These emails may build a rapport between you and your customers. By showing the buyer that you care for their experience, will make them happy and increase the chances of leaving a good review for you.
Make use of Social networks for product reviews on Amazon
Facebook and Twitter are not only made for generating likes and tweets but also can be used to increase your sales. On Facebook and Twitter, you can occasionally send out campaigns to your satisfied customers to post reviews and experiences about the product. On providing a review, you can treat them with some appealing discounts and best deals. This increases the likelihood of increasing your sales and thus finally reviews.
Join Amazon’s Early Reviewer Program
During your initial years of business, this is an excellent program that you can rely on. This program is particularly for sellers who are just starting out. In this program, the customer who has purchased the product is requested for the review whether it is 1 star or 5 stars. In return of the testimonial, the buyer would be rewarded an Amazon gift card ranging from $1 to $3. Even if the testimonials are not good you have to provide the gift card.
Here is the Catch – Not every product sold on Amazon come under this scheme. The seller can decide whether to join this program or not. The seller can decide which of his products can be a part of Amazon’s early reviewer program. Secondly, the customers are not aware of this program when they purchase the product. It is only after the buyer purchases the product, he/she would be notified of the reward in exchange for the honest reviews. Sellers, in no way, can influence the buyers for a higher rating in this program.
The joining fee of this program is $60 and the program is applicable for sellers having less than five reviews.
